THE Meeting Pt. 2

AFTER the initial shock, we started getting into the details

We discussed with the team how we would try and close as quickly as possible.

As elegantly as possible?

As least problematically as possible.

We brainstormed ideas of who to tell first.

Our suppliers? Our dealers (other fireplace stores we supply)?

How quickly would word spread?

AND WHAT WERE WE GOING TO DO WITH ALL OUR INVENTORY!

Our father had been an over-purchaser of inventory.

His motto was "eventually someone is going to need it!".

Well!

Let me tell you...

Sometimes no one needs it!

We were swimming in old stock, things we were always meaning to get to but never having the time being an owner/operator.

There was a possibility of one of our suppliers opening a store front and taking over our existing showroom. That sounded promising for both parties, as it would lessen the workload for us of selling everything in sight.

PLUS for that supplier, they would have an established showroom, walk in traffic from clients who purchased over the past 36 years, and an already loaded warehouse.

But a decision wouldn't be made until September 7th - so for now we waited.

Each team member discussed items in their own departments that would need extra attention over the next few weeks.

Mid-installation clients and those waiting for custom pieces.

Outstanding warranty claims

Cancelling of Point of Sale System

Cancelling our garbage removal contracts

There.were.so.many.things.

After a few hours, we let everyone go for the day and closed the store early.

We all needed to go home and decompress from the day.

Everyone was exhausted.
